How to check if AI mentions your brand

Before you fix your AI visibility, find out where you stand. Here’s a simple, free way to check whether ChatGPT and other AI engines mention your brand — and how to read what you find.

Step 1 — Ask the engines directly

Open each assistant and run a few buyer-style prompts. Use the questions your customers would actually ask:

  • “Best [your category] in Singapore?” — are you on the shortlist, or is it all competitors?
  • “Tell me about [your business name].” — is what it says accurate and current?
  • “[Competitor] vs [your business] — which is better for [need]?” — how are you framed?
  • “Who should I hire for [the service you offer] in Singapore?” — are you named at all?

Step 2 — Check all five engines

Run the same prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. They draw on different sources, so you can be visible in one and absent in another. Note each result.

Step 3 — Read the three signals

  • Presence — are you named at all, or buried?
  • Accuracy — is what it says about you correct and current? If not, see how to fix wrong AI information.
  • Competition — who is cited instead, and why might the engine trust them more?

If you’re missing, the reasons are usually fixable — see why isn’t my business on ChatGPT and the guide to getting cited in ChatGPT.

Frequently asked questions

How can I check if ChatGPT mentions my brand?

Ask it directly: “best [your category] in Singapore?” and “tell me about [your business]”. Note whether you’re named, whether the facts are right, and who’s cited instead. Repeat across Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, because each pulls from different sources.

Is there a free tool to check AI brand mentions?

You can do a solid manual check yourself with the prompts on this page. For a thorough, consistent read across all five engines — with your starting AI Visibility Score and the gaps explained — request a free human-checked audit.

Why do different AI engines give different answers about my brand?

Because they draw on different sources — ChatGPT and Perplexity lean on community and review surfaces, while Google AI Overviews lean on Google’s index. You can be visible in one and invisible in another, which is why you should check all of them.
